Before coronavirus and homeschooling were the 2020 norm, I had resolved to read more books this year. I’ve always loved books. A self-proclaimed book nerd, I was the kid that always had a book. I would even take one when I’d go out to eat with my grandma and her “Breakfast Club,” which in hindsight I probably shouldn’t have done. Books have always been a part of me. I even have my B.A. in English. It seemed like a natural course of study.
For the last few years, I have been meaning to read more. My husband is always reading something on his iPad. I just haven’t felt like I’ve had the time or felt like I should be doing something else. This year I wanted that to change.
With homeschooling/distance learning finally done, I’m consciously trying to read more. Here is my back half of 2020 book list (in no particular order):
- Camino Island by John Grisham – I just started this book last weekend. As of yet, I can’t complain. Grisham can usually keep my interest.
- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – Don’t judge. I’ve read this before and would just like to re-read it.
- Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer – Okay fine…I’m re-reading Twilight, so that I can read this companion book when it comes out. Again, don’t judge.
- The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein – Another re-read. I went through it pretty quickly the first time around and don’t find that I really benefitted from it. I’m giving it another try.
- Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff – I worked on this project in a past life when it was in development. I was intrigued then and I will probably start this after Camino Island so I can finish it before the series premiere in August.
- Becoming by Michelle Obama – This has been on my bookshelf for awhile and am finally going to make the time to read it.
- Daring Greatly by Brene Brown – Someone told me that I should read this, so I’m going to read it.
- Where the Truth Lies by MJ Lee – I got this book for free on Apple Books. I usually like a good crime novel, so we’ll see how this one goes.
What books are your reading list? Are you a re-reader like me? Or, is one time enough?
Happy reading, book nerds!
